Wanted to fish Chambers but waaaaaayyyyyyy to windy so went to the res. Fishable wind near wood side damn. Caught 12 crappie 3 yellow perch 1 white perch missed a few good bites. Dad caught 4 crappie 1 bluegill 6 yellow perch 1 white perch and a 13in bass NOW PAY Attention to this dad hooked a small yellow perch and brung it in kinda slow when the perch was thrashing on top of the water something big came up and took it stripping drag off dads reel he had it for maybe 2min and it got off. 1st thought is big bass cuz as far as we know there is no fish in coatesville resivoir with teeth(musky, pike, pickerel, etc) DOES Anyone Know Different?

Did he get the perch back ? Musky, pike + pickerel all have sharp teeth and would do damage - blood/guts. A large bass/catfish would knock off some scales and possibly skin.

Nope perch was gone but again there has never ever been a report of toothy fish being caught in the coatesville resivoir in my 40yrs of fishing there. Never heard of catfish hitting on top of the water

Supposedly there were massive bass when it was closed to fishing. As far as toothy fish, I've never heard of anything being in there either. I've heard rumors for years that Chambers and the reservoir are somehow connected, so maybe something made it through the pipes? Then again, people claim that Octorara is linked to the reservoir too.
Basically I've heard rumors of giants lurking in there, but with it being closed to boats and with such limited shore access there's no real proof either way that I know of.

Those 3 lakes are definitely linked I read the article myself but I will say coatesville resivoir has lots and lots and lots of wader access I guess pipe theory is possible I do believe that's how white perch got in octorara

My understanding from talking to the guys down there is that the white perch were always in the lower stretch of the Octorara creek, then they demolished an old dam in Maryland which gave them access to the spillway at the lake. Then they did work on the dam and somehow the fish made it into the lake from there. Maybe that's how they got into the reservoir? Rather than the other way around. Found an article that talks about the dam demo in Maryland. It mentions white perch specifically. www.fws.gov/chesapeakebay/newsletter/Fall05/Octoraro/Octoraro.htmI've heard rumors of striped bass moving all the way up to the low head dam now that there's nothing between it and the Chesapeake.

Thats probably it for octorara and maybe some did pass through to coatesville but I had a conversation with the guy who said he put 25 white perch in coatesville he caught down northeast MD now this conversation took place about 10yrs ago and it was already getting over populated with white perch then

I see. According to the guys at Jim Neary's, white perch have only been in the Octorara lakes for a handful of years, since after the dam work.(In 2011 I think) Might actually be completely unrelated to the reservoir.
Also, that guy is an ass for introducing a new species to a lake like that. That's how most waters in Europe have been overrun by the Wels Catfish.

Yea white perch is horrible for landlocked lakes unless there is a significant amount of landlocked stripers to keep them under control cuz most freshwater fish dnt eat white perch so they overrun lakes I read online that almost all landlocked States it is against the law with a heavy fine if you get caught with live white perch near there waters

Heard also the same guy that put the white perch in the c-ville res. also put a few stripers in there. Haven't heard of anyone hooking on to them so maybe by now they're dead?

When I talked to that guy 10yrs ago he mentioned the stripers to me and he said they didn't take for some reason and be saw them floating near the dam

Maybe we should call Jeremy Wade to see if he can get a hook in it. First he will have to talk to the locals first.
