yeah, wasteful I would say so... It doesn't seem like you try to only kill the smaller ones, and also if you are killing them why not be responsible and find some homeless charity to give them too. Anythings better then what your doing now!!!

Where I live, they reccomend not taking any fish out for consumption because the water is so polluted eating the fish would make you sick. Carp eat junk and that's what they taste like. They certainly are not the best tasting fish the world and he's doing a the people at the homeless charity a favor by not feeding them it. If he were to leave the dead fish on the bank of the lake/river, then it would be considered a waste because he didn't really properly dispose of them.
He takes some to a facility to feed some injured birds and feeds them to the racoons at this house. Like he stated, his friend uses some for eel traps. I consider that myself properly disposing his catch since you really can't eat them.

Adding onto the carp discussion on this board:
Are carp generally more active during the day? 12-4? When I go, I get more hits during the mid day heat then at night. I just want to know so I'm not fishing at 7 for carp when they aren't active when I can be breaking out the bass rod and tearing it up.

O.K. I have to add my uneducated $.02. My first thought was that just killing all the carp was wasteful. Didn't say anything cause it's none of my business. I've been talking to lots o' people about it and it seems like the general concensus is that they are a nusiance fish and pretty destructive to aquatic plants. They introduced them at the Heintz Wildlife center to help with the purple loosetrife that was choking out the waterways. The plants are still there and the carp have taken over. Used to be a good bass and panfish spot. PA. regulations are 50 per day, no minimum and open year round. Myst be a reason for that. Oh, by the way, they're still fun on light weight tackle. I'll have second thoughts about releasing them from now on.

Theres something to be proud of. Killing a large fish, that isn't hurting a thing. Not like they are snakeheads or flatheads, killing everything in sight. Takes a real man to kill a slow moving large fish!! Great idea to give them to racoons, bring more dirty animals around, talk about killing useless things, and you are bringing them in your yard

Struble needs a lot more carp thinning.I dont have a bowfishing rig yet but I will and I will also be out there shooting carp. I fished struble since the early 80`s and it certanly needs some cleaning up. Carp are hurting that lake. I practice selective harvest but not with carp in that lake. IF I catch them they go.

have you been to struble? or at least been there in the spring? If you havent, then no, you wouldn't understand. I fish for carp, just for the fun of it, and I release every single one I catch. But you know the problem? I have yet to catch or even see one thats any bigger than maybe 24", why? because there are literally THOUSANDS in that small ass lake. THOUSANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! which is why they are all stunted, which is why there is nothing on the bottom but mud and why every weed that pops up is mud covered and starving for life. Its not like Brad is going to every private pond and public water way and slaughtering carp just to kill something! In my honest, never kill or even keep a fish mentality, I hope he does kill a thousand out of struble, and cut back the population a little and let the other fish have a chance. This is a public board and your welcome to your own opinion, but knowing the facts about the entire 4 pages of this thread is in your favor. And beyond that, it would be illegal to shoot carp if there was any harm in it. Theres no difference in shooting geese than shooting carp. Theyre both a nuisance and overpopulated in areas that just simply arent sustained enough to handle their over-presence. Don't take offence, we've just had this thread going since may? Theres no reason to come in with such negativity.

i am not trying to argue with anyone, and yes i have fished there, there is a ton of carp in there. But to come on a public forum with a picture of 17 killed carp, you know you are going to get some people that think it is wrong. Is struble the only lake that has an over population of carp, as a matter of fact, is struble the only place you fish? And to feed Raccoons, come on, you think that is a good idea, to have them around your home? Do you "BRAD" go to other places to bowhunt carp??

Ya but once again, if he wants to feed raccoons, thats his deal! And who says I only fish struble? No reason to call me or Brad out on anything. I'm done with this theres no reason to get in an arguement. Brad, your turn lol

a bowfisherman is just another name for a weak ass fisherman that can't catch jack. The law says what you kill must be disposed of in a mannerly fashion. You think racoons do the trick... OK. Not everyone is smart enough to know better. You kill one big carp your just giving ten small ones more food. Several large carp is a sportfishing destination. A bunch of small carp is a nuisance... I get it. So sharpen your shooting skills, take out the small ones by the s*^& load and feed them to the homeless. Small carp are nearly contamination free. Haven't been around long enough. Just think about it!!! It might make sense, it might not.
