fished struble for 2 hours this morning. Got 12 crappie. Drilled right on top of them and pulled 9 out in the first 15 mins, then slow going after that. Decided to make a move and headed over to Hopewell for a few hours. I hope the ice at struble makes it through and gets a chance to freeze back up in a couple weeks. We'll see.

I experienced the same pattern both Saturday and today. Had a decent bite going until sun up then it was spotty. Last few crappie I caught I really had to work the jig. I drove by Marsh Creek this afternoon and seen 4 guys on the ice, they walked from the bridge up the channel towards the big rock. I think the ice at Struble will hold up but the slush on top will be a challenge. Wednesdays rain with a good freeze would be ideal!

not much to report from up north,,2 brook trout,1 nice pickerel,,lots of micro perch,,hills creek and beechwood, no snow up there at all, so the ice was nice,,from the looks of the temps for the week theres not going to be much going on here either,,im not going in the slop, just not worth it to me,maybe try north again after the warm up.

Panfish, nice report from the North. We missed you out on Struble the last few days, that explains your absence. I wonder how slushy the ice is today. My next outing or attempt is going to be MC, seeing 4 guys out there Sunday got my interest.

With the 10 day forecast, I don't think there will be any safe ice left in S.E. PA. Maybe still a chance mid Feb and beyond, but everyday brings longer daylight and sunshine.

I took a change this morning and headed to Struble, I figured it would be slushy after the rain yesterday and much to my surprise, it was good ice, no slush. I headed to where I left off Sunday and quickly picked up 10 crappie. Once it slowed I moved to a little deeper water, the bite came in waves, fast and furious then pauses. My battery died on my Marcum so I packed up with a total of 34 crappie in the sled. Glad I got out seeing how Wednesday is going to be a mess!

Good job out there iceman. Thanks for the report. Cant believe that ice is still solid after the past few days. Maybe you were right and it will survive the next week. If it does it looks like we will have temps back in the teens and 20's at night towards the end of next week. Did you ever get to try marsh out?

I drove by Marsh on Sunday and saw 4 guys on the ice, I think it's too risky with the weather we been having. Most spots I checked at Struble yesterday (Tuesday)were 7-8 inches so it might survive todays warmth if we get back to below freezing. Panfish was also out there and said the ice was still good when he walked off at 5 PM yesterday.

I just came from Struble, wanted to see how the ice faired after all that rain and warm temperatures. There was a little open water right at the boat launch other than that the ice held up pretty good, little slushy on top. There was no ponding on the ice except in the cove closest to the parking lot. It should stiffen up with nights dropping below freezing, that's what the forecasters are calling for, let's hope so!

Did you venture onto the lake iceman? I may try to Saturday or Monday. With these colder nights we may be back on the ice but that's just hoping. I already miss it after a week and a half ago!

I walked out about 30 yards, little slushy but solid underneath. I was told that later the same day, a friend checked the ice, the shore ice melted out to about 8 feet. We might need a plank to get on the ice. I'm pretty sure we have artic air moving in after next week.
