Fished 2/10 2-dark. Lots of undersized perch and a few undersized gills mixed in. Left with 5 nice perch. Good evening to be out with the snow coming down.

Brian, It was worth the walk but the bite was not "on". Slow steady pick of crappies that were a bit on the small side with a few decent ones in the mix. Got a few perch that were close to being keepers.

I also was out Monday, same here, slow bite but managed to catch some crappie. I was wondering if that hut was gonna blow away. Holes were icing over quickly with the wind blasting. Heading back out today, hopefully less wind!

Was there Friday and did good on crappies. Some on the smaller side but they were fun to catch. A guy said that the day before was much better. Figures! maybe going there tomorrow. Tim, check your PM'S.

I fished Tuesday, the wind was blowing just like the day before.Slow bite but caught fish, there was a quick bite around 3:30 which lasted about 1/2 hour. Full moon in 2 days so I expected it to be slow, but still fun being out there heading back out today before the "storm" hits.

What's everyone using for bait at Marsh Creek? I've been using small jigs tipped with a wax worm, but haven't had much luck. Any tips? Thanks guys

jmay, That's what works you should be catching. Whats your definition of a small jig? Small jigs, sweedish pimples and the small jigging rapala is whats been catching for me. Maybe you haven't been in good spots either, try moving around. I haven't been on MC for a week or two but when I was there I was doing really good on small crappies in water 30' or deeper. Also it may be how you are jigging. Try very very light jigging motions with a few second pause in between. Also even good size fish will bite extremely light through the ice. sometimes when even when you feel nothing there its a bite. Crappies will sometimes swim up with your jig.
Good luck

yeah brian, yesterday I was back in the same area,,tue we tried a different spot in the mouth of carpenters cove,,,we caught some fish in 40ft but it wasent as good as my original spot. jmay iv been using a 1/12-1/8 oz metal jigs with some attractant, also a good sonar unit can make all the difference,,,,i owe 75% of the fish I caught this season to my Marcum sonar unit. its a lot easier when you can see them coming up to hit your jig,,,,you can do it without one but you better be quick and have great feel because the crappie bite is very subtle,,,,they can have it in there mouths and you never know it because they feed upward and just suck it in there mouths for a second and that's it,if you don't set the hook at that second,,,,forget it,,,,you don't get a hit that's easy to detect because they arnt pulling down on it when they bite,,,,there hitting up on it from below and the sonar unit makes this easy to see.
