Fished all day today, started out at 1 degree but with no wind it was tolerable. Had a good perch and crappie bite early then picked up stray fish thru out the day, evening bite was short so I decided to pack it in before dark. Be back out again Saturday after the BIG chill on Thursday and Friday.

Fished today from 7- 11 AM. I guess it's true: Crappy weather, Crappie bite! Bite started at 7:30 and continued right up until I left, I was forced to leave, the wind make it unbearable, wind chill was right around 0 degrees, could hardly see my FF with all the snow blowing around. Kept 29 crappie and 2 nice perch. Losing a slab crappie right at the hole yesterday made me go back today. Note to myself: Buy a Clam 1 man shelter for next season.

Sorry to hear about the slab. I was out yesterday and lost a slab at the hole, as a matter of fact I had a double on when I lost the slab. the other fish was a blue gill. Never had a double ice fishing. Were you gigging for them or using minnows. Today was nasty. I have been thinking about a shelter myself. My buddy has one (clam). Isnt easy to pull when there is snow on the ice.

Hey jigger, I was jigging when I hooked that slab. I tried to get my thumb in it's mouth, just as I made contact the jig popped out and I ended up pushing the slab further down the hole, it turned and took off, tuff luck!

Ha! With this nasty cold, I would rather forget my rods than my shelter. Going to give Marsh a try tomorrow

I might get to marsh during the snow Saturday. Is the whole thing frozen or are people mostly fishing carpenters and chalfant?

There was still open water on the main lake when I was out tuesday afternoon. Pretty sure the main lake is still not safe. So, yes....most people are fishing carpenters and chalfont areas. I'll be out bright and early tomorrow at chalfont.

Fished Carpenters last night and Chalfont this morning. First time on Marsh, its a whole different world fishing deeper water. Action was not too great, In Carpenters I was marking a giant school of something 10 feet off the bottom and about 3-5 feet of just marks. Anyone know what this is? I though maybe suspended Crappie but could not get a mark or even a follow. Baitfish?
Iceman, nice to meet you and the group.

Way to Go hawgcatcher! I fished 6 AM-10 AM, lot of sniffers, landed 3 crappie and numerous small perch, then the wind picked up and I picked up and left. I guess Thursday's howling wind took it's toll on me.Tomorrow should be warmer, before the next artic chill settles in Monday. Likewise nice to meet you SoChesco and also Bassbum, great bunch of guys out there!
