Fished the river today from the 113 ramp up to the power plant and had a grrrrreat day. Boated 14 Smallies and lost about 10 right next to boat (which is embarrassing but true). The water temp was around 60 when i got there around 10 this morning and warmed up to the high sixties by the end of the day. It was around 75 in the pool by the plant. I was getting bit all morning but wasn't hooking anything. Finally i figured something out with my retrieve and it was constant catching for the last 2 hours of the day. Nothing sizable. Mostly half pound fish. Had about 4 that where about a pound and a half. All together it was a great day.

Nice going! Those smallies are often tough to hook. You have to set the hook on them right away, like fishing a jig. I've brought fish right to the boat there and have seen them with just the last inch or two of the bait in their mouth and of course, they let go right at the boat, but will hold onto to the bait for dear life. LOL

I went out again today and was able to get my wife to come with me. Which was cool. We have both been off for the week. She never fishes and she landed three pretty decent smallies in an hour. I boated 9 more today. Another great day. Looking forward to going out on Marsh Creek tomorrow. I went on Tuesday and Wednesday and didn't catch a thing but I am thinking with it having been pretty warm now for a few days the fish should be moving up and active.

Also saw a few guys on the bank landing some nice cats. 5 to 8 pound range.

I hit the river for about an hour last night. Caught three smallies, first fish of the year. Two on a shallow running shad crankbait and one on a black 4" worm. Water temps were 62 - 63 degrees.
