Fished a rock wall w/ an almost vertical 70ft drop at Nockamixon. The fish finder shows tons of big fish laying on the bottom. There were so many fish that you probably could have dropped a trebel hook down there and snagged them all - but we managed to catch only one 10 inch bass on a drop-shot.
Can anyone tell me what species might be sitting down there? Sorry I don't have more detail on the exact location, but I think it is the only spot on the lake that deep.

Could be just about any kind of fish as long as there isn't a thermocline, and don't think that every thing that shows as an arch or fish symbol on your finder is really a fish, I'm not saying that this is true in your case but they can be fulled, point in case, I was at Marsh Creek one day a couple of years ago and kept marking fish in one area and I also had my Aqua-Vu under water camera with me so I thought I would see what kind of fish I was marking on my Lowrance X75, I dropped the camera down and trolled though the area and when i started marking fish I checked the Aqua-Vu and what I thought were fish turned out to be the tops of old Bush's of some sort, the Aqua-Vu is a great way to verify what you are seeing on your depth finder. As long as there is enough dissolved oxygen at that depth it could be anything. I know they have striper's and or hybrids, probably something looking for cooler water.

Thanks, MB - yeah that makes sense. The guy I was with said he's used a couple different fish finders at this spot just in case the first one wasn't working properly. All of them marked it as having fish there. I guess the best way to tell is with a view finder.
By the way, how much did that Aqau-Vu run? How well can you see down there?

Aqua-Vu's run any where from about $200 to $500, I've had mine for 4 or 5 years got it on sale. They're a lot of fun to use and you can learn a lot about what you are seeing on your depth finder. Only place I have used mine is Marsh Creek, it worked great down to 35 feet or so but when I tried it at 40 feet it got dark, I had to put the camera right on the bottom to see anything. Hope this helps. I sent you a PM.
