Nixon Park has two ponds\small lakes in it connected by a tiny stream (if you can even call it that). I fish it on my lunch break and have been punching weighted tubes through floating grass. I usually wait no more than a few seconds be for pulling my lure out, but for the past few weeks I've been catching some nice LM bass in very shallow, matt covered water. They stock these ponds with big trout in May and not many people fish it for bass - which is fine with me - but if you're ever in Kennett Square, you may want to stop in. The largest bass I ever caught there was 6.5 pounds. Not bad for my lunch break

Fished Nixon Park again today. Would up flippin a tube into shallow water - no luck - Finally started placing the tube into really heavy cover right on the shore line, couldn't have been more than 6 inches of water covered with ton of grass. Picked up 4 LM in about 30 minutes. All were over 15 inches. The plastic color, shape and size didn't seem to matter - the fish grabbed the bait the second they saw it drop.

They do stock it with trout every year. But not until 2 days before their trout rodeo in the beginning of May. I helped stock it this year and there were some GIANT rainbows. You have to start fishing for trout immediately because most are dead or gone before the end of May.

Which lake do you fish in for the LM(the (big or small one). I live in Kennett and have fished it a few times, but haven't found any sizable fish. Any tricks you would be willing to share? Thanks a lot

I've caught big LM on both sides - my best tip would be to wait for a day where the lakes are very muddy and throw a spinnerbait. Hope this helps.

Fished last friday(8/5) for an hour at dusk. Caught 3 bass (8,13,and 14") on weightless plastic worm close to shore. First time being there in a long time. How is the catfish population on these ponds?
