I have to agree with the lack of participation and would like to see more involvment, though on the other hand I see it as less competition.

rtherbe, I don't think posting a fishing report is going to attract that many more people to the lake, that's JMO. About the participation issue, we aren't sure how many people are using the board but from the amount of views that some of the posts are getting, there does seem to be a fair amount of people reading the board. We are trying to come up with some ways to publicize the message board. Maybe not enough people are finding the board. So if you have any ideas for new topics or maybe how to publicize the message board better post them here. Thanks

My comment of "less competition" was tongue-n-cheek.. I did notice the post advertised on the billboard at Struble. Maybe if you guys havent already, a magazine ad in a PA fishing magazine would increase membership and participation. Personally I visit the posts about every each day, I am a confirmed fishing addict. I will also make an effort to post more offen.

Hey Midnitebasser,
A couple things I'd love to see added.
Do you guys have reporting capabilities? The reason I ask is that it would be great to be able to enter dates, times, lures, presentations etc. into a database and view graph reports that would reveal interesting patterns. I currently do this for my own benefit, but how cool would it be if we could get something like this this set up on the site. If you're not familiar with reporting and DBs, I'm sure your webmaster will be able to answer this question.
Also, to comment on people not being able to find the board - I was not able to find the poast originally either, but that was becasue I was searching for Gordon's Sporting Goods" not "Gordon's Sport Supplies"
Hope this helps!

Oh, one more thing - I originally found out about your site because one of the guys in the store mentioned it to me. I don't know his name (I should, I'm in there all the time). I think that was a great way to advertise it. Anyway, I don't hear anyone mentioning anything about it anymore in the shop.

Just a suggestion, try advertizing the site in the Pennsylvania Outdoors paper, great reading matter and it reaches an awful lot of people. Latest issue has a good article on Marsh Creek. There are alot of people that do not realize the work that it takes to create and maintain a site such as yours and you should be commended. I sold my Tracker on your site and by posting under the Chambers thread I had a person get in touch with me about donating the lumber we need for the dock. You serve a great purpose for the sporting community, and a tip of the hat for a job well done.

Thanks for the kind words. Midnitebasser and I do spend a lot of time on the board, tweeking, adding, and trying to improve the content. We have seen the board grow substantially, since its start, but there is always room for improvement. We are glad to see that we are still adding members also, that means the word is starting to spread. Posting on topics is picking up, however, even more is welcomed. Talking to some people, I have found that some are reluctant to post because they are not sure how to do it. We have tried to explain it in our General catagory, but some are still reluctant. Again if any one has any questions on the procedure, please e-mail us, we'll help, it really is easy once you know how. Don't be afraid to try ! Also I'll look into the Pa Outdoor News for ad pricing, I agree it is a good paper. Ken
