It's mid-summer, water temps probably in the 80s. It's a tough time of year for fishing. Thanks for the report.

has anyone seen any clear water in the lake this year? any new grass (mats)? the lake is not looking healthy.

I haven't fished this lake in a few years due to it being a zoo and entirely too much pressure. I bet you'd see lakes clear up a bit once temps drop a bit.

( Used in Sunoco Pipeline LP’s Mariner East project in Chester County, an estimated 8,100 gallons of drilling fluid (mud and water) leaked into wetlands off park property and into a tributary to Marsh Creek Lake. The spill is affecting the lake’s cove area along Park Road )
I guess this explains that nasty yellow substance along Park rd side of the lake.

nah, spill was months ago. i'm talking about all season long, even before the spill, anywhere in the lake. what spilled was not enough to effect clarity or grass growth in the entire lake. anyone having a really successful year fishing? personally, i get some here, some there but no really good days. not just bass, seeing fewer panfish as well and smaller size. anyone?

I think you are correct, we have tried many times with disappointing results === never caught a bass that was bigger than 15 or so inches, but there was always plenty yellow perch near the dam area, did see some big musky swimming around but never hooked one, I don't if I'll go back there real soon, shame because it is real nice place.

I fished Marsh twice this summer from my yak. The first time was in mid-June, I got skunked on bass but caught loads of bluegill and yellow perch using live worms. The second trip was mid August and I only used plastics. Caught 4 bass, most were small but caught one nice one on a small 1" swim bait on a 1/64th oz trout magnet hook in about 20 feet of water jigging the bottom. I also caught a good amount of yellow perch, one 5-6 inch yellow perch hit a ned rig worm that was more than half it's size! I also managed a couple of crappie on that trip, both were small. I found some suspended but couldn't keep my yak over them as the wind kept blowing me off the spot.
All this said, I only get to Marsh a few times a year at most so can't comment on the overall fishing this summer.

Just look at the results of the tnt tue nite tx’s.tells you a bunch about how hard it is to land one +15.
Ole MC is and has been in decline as far as bass fishing, don’t really see the musky guys either. No weeds or grass or speak of only small patches, and you’d think based on that the fish would relate to the abundance of structure but they are not. Tells me the numbers are down and the bass are on the move and hard to pattern.
My opinion poorly managed By all concerned, people swimming, often right in front of posted signs, docks used as diving boards, people parking in trailer only spots, prepping boats/yaks on the ramps, etc.
Storm water, 100 yr events too often, chemical run off, spraying not helping the fishery.
Used to hit it a lot but done banging my head over there, let me know once things improve.
Sad, hope it bounces back.

I've fished Marsh Creek since it opened in the 1970s mostly for bass. I could always find 5 or 6 and often more bass in a couple hours on the lake on rubber worms and 3" rapala original floater. Since 2005 it's gotten harder and harder, mostly get skunked. I fish deep, slow, shallow, fast, up and down. Tough lake. I wish someone would teach the kayakers how NOT to block the ramps.

I stopped musky fishing it. Too crowded. Glad I left Chester county.
