Drove up to Struble yesterday around 6:30 hoping to catch some pan fish on my fly rod. Was excited to see hardly any cars in the lot and only a few boats out. That was short lived however since the lake was pea soup green with no visibility. Took a few casts and then headed to Chambers. Where I caught some gills and tiny bass. The lake was super crowded pretty much everywhere.

In my experience fishing struble, it seems to be pea soup often. Not sure why.

I haven't been down there for awhile... but when I fished it I would quit after the first or second week of walleye in May then start up again in Oct to avoid the "pea soup".
I think the fact that it is shallow and highly fertilized from farm run off is why it gets like that... Blue Marsh in the upper sections gets like that too.... Not as shallow but more farms.

Can you fish the lake that late into the fall? I've seen hunters down there, guess for duck or whatnot in the fall. The dock is removed prior to that as well.

There was no dock back then just the ramp. When I fished it in the fall I'd go on Sundays if it was waterfowl season. Didn't worry too much about small game or deer seasons. Starting this year there will be 3 Sundays open to hunting not 100% sure but I think 1 in archery, 1 in rifle deer and I think 1 small game.
