Had an amazing fishing week at Marsh Creek. It was incredibly packed but we made due. Crappie were biting like crazy. Had an unexpected catch today a Golden Shiner! I had no idea the reservoir had them. In all my years fishing there I've never seen one there. Next think you know Shad will start showing up.
Anyone else run into Shiners at Marsh Creek?

Wonder if someone was using them as bait?

Awesome that you had a good week. I’ve had trouble with my schedule and decent weather lining up..... Maybe this week.

Golden shiners are commonly sold as bait - many people dump them at the end of the day. Some get "off" the hook either by wriggling free or on the cast/retrieve. They were/are sometimes stocked by the PFBC as forage too. I've caught a few at area lakes.
You don't want shad or alewives... both are detrimental to young panfish populations by out competing them for food.

We at Gordon’s have been selling golden shiners and fathead minnows and worms for over 35 years. Besides keeping fishermen happy I’m sure many shiners and fatheads have been released into the lakes at the end of a days fishing! Buy the way we have a huge selection of fishing tackle, and Musky lures in this year. We also sell firearms. and ammo. For those who don’t know, we are on the east side of the lake, just up from the park entrance. Open 7 days a week. Right now hours are limited to 8am to 12 pm. 610-458-5153
