Stopped by Struble this late morning and found the lake frozen over. Not thick of cours, but it’s a start. Bunch of sea gulls in the water on far side. Couple guys broke thru ice to water foul hunt but didn’t stay long. The local pair of Bald Eagles have paired up, and can be usually seen sittin side by side in the trees at top of hill opposite the church. Nest making should begin soon. I believe they produced a pair young ones last year.

Anyone think we'll be ice fishing this month? Getting the itch with the cold weather today the past couple of days

With any luck we may be out in a couple weeks. Struble and maybe carpenters cove on marsh creek may have enough cold nights to build some ice, but those daytime temps are still a little high. Have to see how the wind treats us. Crossing my fingers too

Stopped by Struble Lake yesterday, ice is forming on all the shallows and open water out in the middle. I walked out a few steps and it was cracking but it held my weight. If Cecily Tynan is correct ( which is rare ) artic air moving in next week should lock it up and possibly we'll be fishing by the end of next week.

Just to let you guys know, we have most of our ice fishing tackle in. Good selection of rods, Strikemaster augers , ice jigs, tip ups and more! Live bait all year long.

Update: Stopped by Struble Lake Thursday 1/16/19. Lake is now capped off, no open water. I didn't bring an auger to do test holes but was able to walk out several steps, also didn't bring ice cleats and it's slick. I'm guessing it will be safe to fish next week with artic air settling in for Monday and Tuesday and below freezing temps at night thereafter.

Thanks for the update iceman. Looks like a lot of rain Saturday night and Sunday. If it manages to hold up through it, the water on top should freeze and add a couple more inches. If it doesn't hold up, then it may set us back again

Spent the last 2 days on the ice at Struble, it was 4 inches just about everywhere. Today's weather with the rain and high temperature will hurt it some but should be good again by next week. As for the bite, got a variety of fish Tuesday, it was slow for the most part. Wednesday the bite was better on Crappie, early morning and mid afternoon it was steady. Did manage to catch one nice White Crappie around 12" and later broke off on something heavy, maybe a channel cat or walleye. There were 8-10 guys out both days. Long range forecast is calling for below normal temps for the Northeast until mid March, let's hope that's correct!

Has anyone been out to Struble recently? I’m thinking of maybe fishing there this weekend if there’s any good feedback. Thanks

Anyone on Struble today? I want to go out tomorrow and was wondering what the ice conditions are. Looks like a small couple of days window though. Thanks for any feedback.

Just left Struble, 3 guys fishing and walked out and measured one of the holes they drilled had 4 inches. The cove to the left of the ramp so not sure about the rest of the lake.
