Well, I went to the lake yesterday, spent a few hours working the bank from the boat launch to the dam. Nada. Water was very murky and cold. The water level was very high. Tried a variety of baits and techniques, from regular jigs to spinners to crappie nibbles(fished with a float and on the bottom).
Still to cold, I think. Things should start to improve in a couple of weeks.
I saw maybe half-a-dozen others out trying to get their first post ice bite. Nobody I talked to had any luck either.

Its still a little early but I am sure it felt great just to be out wetting a line anyways? Any boats on the lake while you were there? I'm sure those fish are very deep and very sluggish yet.

No boats on Sunday. I think you're right about the fish still being deep. It will probably be toward mid/end of March before they start to come up, I think.

Took the boat over yesterday, hoping to drift for crappie. Wind was blowing pretty good so I changed game plans. I have Garmin Sonar/GPS products, and they just came out with a software update that allows you to map your own lakes. So I started cruising and recording. Watched the contours start appearing on my screen! It will take a few outings to get it all mapped, but it's pretty neat! It's all recorded to an SD card to save and or share with other Garmin users.
