Anyone drive by Struble lately?? This cold snap should be producing ice. Gear is ready, battery is charged, new line on the reels, all we need is ICE! I'm also considering traveling up North if we don't get some hard water soon.

Panfish, what road is Kurtz's on? I also have to get bait. I went to Gordon's the other day and because of the weather he isn't stocking any ice fishing gear. They also had no spikes.

Kurtz is on Isabella rd. If you were leaving Struble, turn right on Morgantown rd, then go to the stop sign and turn left. Isabella is the first right. Actually there's a fork in Morgantown road to the left before the stop sign that will take you right to Isabella. Just easier to say go to the stop sign. The fork might save you 300 feet! You need to call ahead for bait in the winter as he doesn't keep specific hours. Most times I call and just leave a message on what I want and tell him a time I'll be there. If there's a problem he will call back.

I took a ride out to Struble this morning, it's not looking good. There is skim ice covering the lake which breaks up quickly when the wind blows. I then went to Kurtz's to see about getting some bait, more bad news, he will not be stocking Spikes this Winter due to the conditions. He did say he has some left over from last March which are in a dormant stage, they are near frozen underground, once they warm up they will took quickly. He does have Meal worms, large and small, Waxworms and Butterworms. I wonder if the Tackle Shops up North are stocking Spikes? I found a Website that sells live bait, Knutson's Live Bait, that might be the way to go!BTW: Struble has added posts and numerous No Parking signs where we parked last year, parking is allowed in the Big Lot only.

Signs and posts are at the lot right near the boat launch ramp.
