I fear it has reached the end of the season finally. After two trips to a local backwoods pond this past weekend I am thinking 2015 is over. In about 3 hours of fishing I managed one 10" crappie and no other bites. I didn't see anything cruising the shoreline either even though the temps were mild. I saw a few turtles but no Bass whatsoever. It was great to get out this weekend even though the action was non-existent and I actually am feeling good that I was able to catch at least something so late in the year. The crappie fell victim to a Zoom Fluke which I was basically dead-sticking. No bites on a jig and no bites on a dead-sticked wacky worm either.

Nice! I'm glad you at least got to catch something. I went out to a local pond as well on Saturday but got skunked. Didn't see much in the way of fish activity either so I think that was about all for me until next year.

cvllebanger,
Deeper water is relative to the body of water; so yes; in a deeper lake the bass may be sitting in 20+ feet right now but in the pond the max depth is 8 feet. So even in this situation the bass would be sitting in that "deeper water". I have fished this pond for almost 40 years so I know where the bass are right now; they just were not willing to budge. I was fishing the deepest water of that particular pond with proven baits for the pond; they just weren't having any of it this past weekend. I have the boat packed up for the winter; that's also why I opted for the pond this past weekend as opposed to "big" water.
