I've been running to nj and catching them in the surf on Sunday's this fall. Always wondered how to target them in a lake.

Stripers; both hybrid and naturals are in Blue Marsh.. they follow the thermocline in the summer and the baitfish in winter... actually the baitfish follow the thermocline in summer so find the alewifes. I have targeted then at night, daytime with deep diving crankbaits, trolling, and drift fishing with live bait out on planer boards, even caught a few on chicken livers!. Pick your technique! This time of year most of the baitfish have moved up lake from the no wake area up into the major arms. Jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, crankbits and walleye divers, even tubes work at times. Use electronics to find the balls of bait... most of the time I spend looking for the pods of bait first then work those areas... the nice thing at Blue Marsh is that large smallmouth also follow the pods of baitfish around.

Nice job! While most of us have packed up for the season you guys are still out chasing them......I'm impressed. Those are some good looking Bass as well. Was the water really that calm (the surface looks smooth as glass in the pics). Also; any Musky's following your baits at all; I know they seem to love the cooler water.

the past few weeks have had some windy days, but Sunday was very warm and almost no breeze. No musky.

No musky sightings for me. We were out saturday and it was smooth all the time we were there.

Looks like spring weather coming. I'm going to give B/M a try on Friday. Here's a picture from 4 years ago in Dec.

Those are all nice fish. This thread has me thinking about taking my boat out this weekend and giving it a shot. What launch would be best this time of year to get to where the fish are easiest? Never had my boat out on Blue Marsh yet. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't know... with all you guys headed out there this weekend it'll be like opening day of trout season. The 2 lower launches are best best although there are no docks in. Yesterday was out and same old story... nothing till well after lunchtime and then just after all my spinning reels get birdnests I hit these two. Check out the 6 pound 10 ounce walleye... she was fat..

Blue Marsh will reward me with a nice fish or 2, then slap me upside the head with a few fishless trips. I'm due for a good outing!

Thats the same for me Shellback... I been posting a lot of picts lately but usually I get dinks or send all day for a few bites. I spent 8 trips hunting those stripers last month and got skunked... I found them but could not get a hookup. Yesterday I was dead tired, my back ached and I had no hits from 9:00 till after 2:00.. I tried dropshot, small worms, jigs, crankbaits & spinnerbaits...nada.. I was ready to go home and the walleye bit... well that was good for another hour on the water.!!
