Decided to take a vacation day since we were having such nice weather this week. Decided to head to Chambers around 7:30 AM. Got there and found the lake thick with fog and cloudy skies; but the water was smooth as glass. I went about 30 minutes without even a nibble and then headed down to the stump field. I ended up catching 7 Bass and two very large gils'; all on top water in 12-24" of water. Once the wind kicked up a little the action stopped; then the wind died down and I caught 2 more on a swimbait. Every time the wind would kick up just a little they would stop hitting; then when it would stop they would bite again. But all in all a great time down there for what is probably the last trip of the season. Also had a very nice long conversation with one of the Rangers down there after I brought the boat in. I didn't catch her name but she was a super nice person and just a very fun person to talk to; so if she reads this......thanks for hanging out with me and chatting for a while. As far as the Bass; nothing huge but a few were in the 2 lb. range; but most were between 12-15". But Bass of that size on UL gear with 4 lb. test sure was a lot of fun. I fished some larger baits on my casting gear and larger spinning gear but they wanted very small presentations that only the UL would handle.
