Good job! I was also out at MC today a little after sunrise along the shore to the right of the boat launch. Caught about 15 gills, but only kept 6. All the remaining were too small.

Hey Dbass and Love2fish, you got some good eatin on those gills.
How do you guys prepare them to eat.
Add butter to the oil when frying, thats the way I do it after I bread them.
To get the big gills, stay away from the shore line, there got to be schools of crappies somewhere, or is that a night time bite, I love that night fishing for crappies, when the moon is out, put me on night time crappies and I am in heaven.
Has anyone ever caught bluegills at night?,

crappieman1, I fillet the gills, sprinkle a little seasoning on, then cook them in the skillet using medium heat in just enough extra virgin olive oil cover t the bottom of the pan. About 4 minutes on each side and you have finger licking good fish! I do the same for perch and crappie. I think Perch is the best of the three cooked this way. Do you think I can find crappie along the shoreline at night during the summer? I did find them at the bridge from Jan - March, but have not tried it since then. I just assumed they went to the deeper part of the lake until the fall/winter. I do not own a boat (yet), so for now, fishing from the shore is it.

A night pattern that works on other lakes, boat ramp lights attract minnows and the crappie will visit these areas at night, thats my best advice.

Acme sells a batter called old bay better batter. If you like Old bay you will love this stuff. It is scrumptious on crappie and gills.
