The wife and I were out on the lake Saturday afternoon (It was so hot we had no business there!) and I kept running into dead fish, big ones! I saw a walleye that had to be at least 22". Is this from people practicing poor catch and release or is something else going on? Besides that, we ran into a nice school of gills in the cove to the left of the dam. They were right as you go in, 44' of water, they were at 12'. Water temp was 85. We caught a few nice size ones on a 1/8 green fuzzy grub tipped with a small piece of nightcrawler. No bass, fished them deep most of the day. Missed two (the only two bites I got) on my favorite lure, a white trophy scumfrog.

Were all of the dead fish you saw the same species, size, etc? Were they all over the lake or centered in a spot, such as a boat launch?

This happened last year too if I recall correctly. Did they spray recently?

I eat a lot of panfish from this lake, now I wonder how safe the fish are to eat if they spray the lake, does anyone have a comment on this?

this happens when the water temp goes up into the high 80,s it has something to do with oxygen level in the water Doyle

Marsh creek was sprayed for weeds within the last two weeks. . A fellow who was present watched and talked to the guy spraying, and he said they were late spraying the lake this year because of the rain and high water. Only areas sprayed was in front of the boat rental, around the launching ramp on Eagle side, and around the launching ramp on Lyndell side. There has been some bluegills still on the nests over the last couple of weeks, and there always seem to be some mortality after the spawn.

I seen about four big dead fish (bigger ones). The walleye I was right next to, the others I seen from a distance, so I am unsure of what they were. They were all near the spillway. It looked like it was letting water out, therefore it could be that the fish were pulled that way after they were dead.
