What a day! Went to MC at sunrise this morning fished a few hundred yards to the right of the boat launch. In 3 hours I caught 10 nice size Bluegills, 1 Perch, and a hard fighting 2lb bass. I would have continued fishing, but the Sun was getting strong after the clouds cleared. It was 80 degrees and rising when I left. Maybe will try again late this afternoon.

Nice job. Good to hear that somebody is catching fish. I'll be out there Tuesday (yep, hottest day so far). I have to go when I can get the time. We have to work in either good or bad conditions so we might as well play then, also. What were you using, lures or live bait?

Good job- luvtofish, did any of those gills go over 9 inches and how deep were they, I am now wondering if the big gills go shallow in the early morning.
How long was the perch?
We are in the dog days of summer and you did well.

I was using trout/panfish worms and believe it or not, mister twister micro minnows. I never caught gills using artificial minnows , but they actually bit them. I was in about 10 feet of water using a float, split shot and a #6 hook. All gills were approx 7 inches, perch at 11 inches, and the fighting, flipping bass at about 15 inches. I suspect they come shallow at dawn, but when the sun broke through the clouds at 8'ish AM , the bite fell off. Good luck to you all this week and be careful in the heat; drink plenty of fluids. I might try again 1 or 2 evenings during the week, then hit it hard again next weekend.
