Had a great day breaking in a new rod on the skuke. Ventured out to some water that was new to me and waded around for a few hours before I was able to find any fish, but it was worth it. Ended the day with a pretty good trifecta of fish. Hooked and landed a 20lb or so flathead on a rattle trap. Moved not too far and caught a beauty of a smallmouth in the 4lb range. And to top it off on the way back to my truck saw a spot that looked too good to pass up and caught a real nice walleye in the 24" range. It was the first i have personally caught in this river and it was a real pretty fish and a great way to end the day. All these fish were caught on a medium light st croix premier and 6lb fluoro which made it that much more fun. Not a bad way to spend a great day outside and even came home with some sun burn in april.

Great day! That's one aggressive flathead. I was out tonight targeting them with no luck. Might have to do some fly fishing for smallies tomorrow. sounds like they're biting.

I was fishing in the Mont Clare area. The flathead must have been quite hungry, hooked into it just before noon. The bigger smallmouth are really starting to bite now. I haven't hooked into any smaller bass yet, but was able to land a real nice one yesterday and also lost a beast of a fish last weekend.
