OK all, I am finally giving in to temptation and will be renting a boat and fishing at Marsh Creek this coming weekend. I will be going after those elusive Crappie & Perch. And hey, if I catch a bass, I will take a picture of that too! I have only shore fished there over the last two years and this time of year I need to fish deeper water from a boat to get to the bigger fish. At $75 for four hours to to rent a motorized boat, I want to have maximum fun for the money. Any suggestions on where to fish at Marsh? Should I use live bait? All suggestions are appreciated.

Not knowing how much motor or battery they give you......I would try running around to the left and going up the big cove(I believe it's called Carpenters cove). Stay out about 25 yds from shore on the way there because of shallow water & weeds. The point at the entrance to the cove also runs shallow. Once in the cove, try both shores with rubber worms or cranks(3'-6'). Cast to the middle of the cove with rattle traps or spinners. My personal choice for live bait would be nightcrawlers. I keep them in a cooler or if it's not too hot, I'll sit the container upside down in the bottom of the boat under the seat. This also helps keep them cool and when you open the lid they are all right there for you to snatch up. Good luck & let us know how you make out.

You stated you are after crappies and perch, my favorite crappie bait this time of year is a 2 inch white twister with YUM, this bait can be cast on a light jig say 1/32 oz or trolled over open water.
As for perch, finding them is going to be the tuff part, I would use a jig tipped with a piece of worm and fish the bottom.
Since you only have 4 hrs to fish ( and those 4 hrs are going to be like a New York minute ), you don't want to waste too much time on unproductive arears.
If you have enuff battery power find the trees lying in the water and you mostly will be on fish.
Lets us know how you make out, and good luck fishing.
