Has anyone ever used the Sheidy boat ramp off Route 183, north of Old Church Rd?
Can you give me any information?
Wife wants to kayak in no wake, I want to fish from my boat. I have a 17' boat.
Launch ok here?

bassfever,
I know from last November that the floating docks had been pulled on two lower ramps, but the ramps were fully accessible. I would say the same for the upper Sheidy ramp as well. The lake and branches are pretty much fishable year round. You will just need to beach your boat after launching to board it. Good luck!

I launched yesterday at Sheidy, floating dock were still in. Water temp 64 degrees, very stained to muddy at Sheidy, got better towards the main lake. I did not catch much, but did catch a very nice crappie, around 11"-12", on a road runner and chartreuse tube. Close to a downed tree.

ramps are still in, water lever rose 2' because of the rain we had, I was out yesterday Friday and had 10 bass, 3 over 3 pounds, 2 others around 2.75 . all Largemouth. Water color varies depending on the area but basically stained.

Wow, Nice job basser425! I have yet to fish blue marsh, but I want to and this makes me want to go even more! Would you mind telling us what you caught them on? Thanks

small worms, green pumpkin or darker colors if the water is stained, same colors for 3" tubes.. FYI these are these same color I use in MC and just about any other lake in PA. If the water is clear like up at Beltsville go with green. I think the "trick" is slow presentation & deeper water. The only fish than exploded on the baits were sunfish, the bass just mouth it and all you feel is slight tension on the line. I am going back into hibernation now..good luck!

I struggle at Blue Marsh, I guess because I am a bank beater. Sounds like I need to go deeper, try worms.
Focus on downed trees?

there is just too much water to beat the bank and many long stretches just do not hold fish. Right now they are moving or already in winter areas… not the usual summertime spots and not necessarily around trees. But they are slowing down and you must fish deeper. Last week and the week before I was hammering them on crank baits, this week, not so much. Small jigs, tubes worked slowly seem to get picked up. Many fall "spots" are just a waste of time in the summer.. and the opposite .. so just experiment and stop hitting the same spots you caught one in the summer. The structure they may hold on is not always visible from the surface, sometimes it is subtle changes in the contour or depth. rock piles along stretches of gravel, etc.
