Headed out to Blue Marsh on Sunday in the cold. A balmy 38 degrees when we left the house. Water temps were right around 66 when we got there. Decided on a shallow running crankbait hoping to pick up a few feeding bass in the shallows. I fished for about 5-1/2 hours and caught one smallie around 3 lbs and another that was about 12". My buddy hooked a LM that was probably about 2 lbs and lost him at the boat. Also had a nice musky hit back in one of the many coves but he came unbuttoned pretty quickly. He was on just long enough to see him roll on the surface about 10 ft out from the boat and then he was gone. All in all a very chilly day on the water (and windy too). I cant believe there were people water skiing yesterday morning.

And I thought I was bold kayaking in these temps!
I've always had some luck in the upper branches and coves. Hoping to get back there before the draw down.

We were actually fishing the main lake; both my smallies came off of the left side of the island. The draw down has began; the lake level was already down about 2 ft on Sunday. A lot of the shoreline cover is high and dry already. We decided on the main lake since you really cant fish it properly in the summertime with all the water skiers and jet ski's etc. When we left the main launch we headed down a little bit and fished the first large cove on the left. It was long and skinny; never being down at that part of the lake I thought it was a creek coming in (but it was not); that's where we had the musky hit. I really need to fish the upper end next season; I have a feeling that area is almost un-fishable already?

Either of the Corps launches at the lower end are fine to use at winter pool. Just have to pull your boat up to shore to get in and out.

Pull up to shore to get in & out.... is that because the floating docks are out?

Yes, they pull the docks out.
Blue Marsh remains completely fishable at winter pool.
