Any tips on fishing this lake. I've never been. I know it's real small. I would like to target musky but probably some bass too.

I went up there one time earlier this summer; unfortunately it was very windy. That's actually the day my rod strap broke on the way up there and I lost all of my combos. Drove the hour long drive back home and found two of them damaged along the road. Anyway; I went back up there and the only combo that was somewhat usable was my frog rod. I threw on a Zoom Horny Toad and was throwing in the weeds right off to the left of the launch and had a huge musky strike on my toad bait. He would not hit a 2nd time. After keeping to the left I went up the lake and had numerous strikes on the horny toad but didn't hook up with a single one of them. My heart just wasn't in it after losing my combos so I am sure that didn't help matters. But I would go up there with a toad bait and run left after leaving the launch and work your way around.

Thanks for the tips. That will certainly dampen your spirits. I'll post a report if I go.

Also; when you leave the ramp and head left up the lake there are a TON of weedbeds in there. I was once told to fish the edges with a senko style bait; when I went up there I could not find any edges; the whole upper part of the lake is just solid milfoil beds and about 4 feet of water (it gets pretty shallow far up though). So I wouldn't hesitate to fish some sort of topwater like a spook or a wake bait or something like that since Fall is here. I loved the look of that lake a lot but I am feeling it has cursed me; haha (with losing my rods etc)! The far shoreline from the ramp looks pretty decent as well; looks like a lot of cover to pitch a jig or a soft plastic too. I never made it down towards the dam so I have no clue whats down there except for deeper water. One thing to note; there is a ramp there but no dock; so you'll have to beach your boat to load and unload. The day I was there also was very windy; I would have thought with all of the trees on the far shoreline it would have protected the lake; I was wrong. It was very hard to drift at a slow speed to hit key areas. I'll go back up there again to give it a try but probably not until next year. You will find though that there is very little boat traffic on the lake. They say there's a lot of Bass in there but very difficult to catch one of a decent size. It is stocked with Musky's though and I think you would have a very good shot at catching one; especially this time of year. Even though I didn't hook the one that hit my frog it was still an amazing sight to see it dart out of the weeds to hit the bait. Completely different than a Bass strike on a frog. If you go there I wish you the best of luck and please post a report or send me a message.

Everything was just like you said. Nice lake and only two other boats the whole day. Crazy, right? Water was 67-72 and murkey. Saw a lot of trout swimming around. I tried for muskies for about 6 hours but no takers. Not even a follow. I tried bucktails, bulldawgs, squirrely jakes, frogs, poppers and 10 inch plastic worms and a yellow bomber. I tried shallow, deep, drop offs. trolling, jigging, casting. There's quite a few pickeral in those weedbeds. I messed with them a little bit. lost one at the boat and caught another good sized one. I had video rolling so Ill post it when I edit it. Thanks for the tips. I'll fish there again. I'll definitely be there if things freeze up.

Here's the video. It's short. If you look close you can see the pickeral take the worm.

I think I'm mistaken on my fish ID. The first one was a pickeral. I saw the black line vertical line on his face. I think the one I landed was a musky. Had vertical stripes with spots and tail looks pointed. I'm guessing barred musky.

Tried again today. Water was 65 and it was windy. The sun never really popped out to warm the water. I was hoping to find them in the weed beds sunning and feeding but the water water 65 in the middle of the lake and 65 in the shallow coves. Had one follow right up to the boat, mouth open but turned off before I could figure 8. It was close to the motor. Might of spooked him. Visibility was rough with the clouds and wind so I didn't see him until last second. One other boat on the lake. He didn't do well on bass.
