Do you have to use one of the two boat launch sites to use a kayak or canoe on the lake? If I want to park over near little connestoga and drag the kayak in over there so you don't have to paddle for three hours to get there is that okay? I can't seem to find any regulations written on this. Thanks!

Pretty sure you can launch where ever you want--- just make sure you have a launch sticker, or a FBC registration sticker, & life jacket

Sorry if I gave bad info... I've seen the LL Bean crew launch past the mooring on the Lyndell side, many others there too... thats not at the ramp, but of course its not too far away.
Maybe it would be good to call the park office before launching anywhere else.

i launch out of the parking lot off chalfont road pretty frequently. I've never experienced any trouble. I mostly launch from there during the weeknights to avoid having to leave when the launch spots close at 8:15.

I didn't mean that you had to launch on the ramp only, sorry for the confusion. I launch right in front of the LL Bean trailer and that's fine as is the whole general area. Launching at Chalfont Rd is a definite no-no or at least it was last year. You've been lucky is all, in fact there use to be a sign as you come in stating you couldn't. Talk to the park rangers ... The main launch by the concession stands is the only place that closes at sundown. The Lyndell side is open 24/7. You're saying you've never seen boats on the lake that need the ramp to launch past 8:15??

Hey guys... I have to apologize for the bad information I gave earlier in this thread. I was just down walking my dog on Chalfont Rd and I noticed a sign at the gate that said "No trailer launching"... so I drove over to the park office and asked about regs. They said there were never any restrictions on where you can launch!! I was given bad info and never bothered to check... sorry about that...

Bring a whistle. I know it's petty, but they were down there giving citations a couple weeks ago to those without whistles or something of the sort

I've seen people put in kayaks off conestoga rd, and often wondered if they could do that.

There is a sign at the styer road lot that says "no launching permitted". Not sure if that's the case for the chalfont lot but seems like it might be. Just saying.
