Caught these Saturday night and made a video. The underwater shots are pretty cool.

Sure, I look for deep holes near shallow stretches, structure, rivers or creeks dumping in, or anything that just looks right. Stay away from the easy to get to popular spots like black rock. I use heavy spinning gear and round baitcasters with 50-65 lb braid. Then a 10-15 ft top shot of 50 lb mono for abrasion resistance. They like to run for cover and will shred straight braid as they run for cover. I use #8-10 circle hooks with more 50 lb leader, swivel, sinker slide and cushion sinkers. You can catch them on lighter tackle but you'll lose fish if you can't control them as they go for cover. They aren't bothered by current at all. Some spots in the spring when it's raging I use 8 oz bank weights. When the water is low and warm I do better at night. We use mostly live and cut sunnies. Nothing rotten for flatheads. The bigger the better. Any legal fish will work. Suckers, chubs, trout, crappie or even bullhead cats. July it shuts down for the spawn and mostly catch little ones but it picks up again in august. Fall is good but I'll be too busy hunting.

What exactly is the "top shot"? I understand using the mono leader to swivel but i usually just have the mono leader to swivel then the main line which is braid.

It's just a longer piece of mono tied straight to the braid with a improved Albright knot. Thats the knot I like. I usually use 10-15 ft. After I started doing it I lost less fish. Before I used it my line would randomly snap while fighting a catfish. Braid is great for casting and getting a bunch of line on your reel but sucks for abrasion resistance. I Get the best of both worlds this way.

Have you ever tried catfishing in the Brandywine? I have wanted to give it a shot but I do not know where to start.

There's a few channel cats here and there in the brandywine. Caught some in the honey took area years ago and down below marsh creek.
