Fished scotts run off and on for a few years for late season trout. I was talking to a guy in french creek outfitters and he had asked me if I hooked into any pickerel. I never knew there was anything other than trout in there. Never thought about it so i mainly targeted trout near the boat dock. Found this forum and seeing everyone talking about them makes me wanna go after some pickerel.(never caught/fished for them before) So my question is whats everyone using for the bass and pickerel in this lake? I have setups from 4'6" UL to 7' medium/heavy rods so i have them bases covered. But whats everyone using for lures and bait, are you fishing from shore of from boat and what part of the lake. I mainly fish off the dam or by the boat docks. Like i said I never fished for pickerel before so all the help you can give would be awesome. Thanks a lot.

I got he there through the ice but that's it. I don't fish there on open water. From my experience from catching them in other areas is that they like small trout spinners.

I have fished very successfully multiple times at Scotts Run for Pickeral (actually targeted them a few times). My bait of choice was an 1/8 oz Strike King Mini King Buzzbait in White. I would always head back to the very shallow area of the lake until I had to pull the motor and push myself with an oar. Look for the weeds on the bottom (very easy to spot with polarized lenses). That's where the pickeral hang out. Best day there was last year; I took a 1/2 day off work in the early summer and headed down there; ended up catching about 12 of them in 3 hours. Nothing huge; the largest was around 18" and the smallest was probably around 12" but a lot of fun. I LOVE watching that "V" head towards my bait on the retrieve. Good luck........
