fished marsh creek yesterday with a friend and we got about 140 big blue gills 60 crappies one 13 3/4" yellow perch and one bass about 20" all in all we had a good day.

Where you the 2 guys back in the one cove fishing next to a guy and a girl on a boat who were also catching crappies?

trout magnet and honey worms red in color worked best for me.

Yeah that was me and my girlfriend fishing next to you. We probably caught about 30 crappie and a 12" perch. A lot of the crappie were females full of eggs. We threw all back but 8 male crappie which we had for dinner. Minnows seem to be the key.

Hi, great report! How can I tell a female crappie from a male crappie? I would like to also throw all the females back; gop t keep the population up!

we threw all of ares back didn't keep any just for fun yesterday.

During the spawn most females will have a big belly and the males will turn dark, sometime even black, on its throat and gill plate.
I fish almost every day in the spring and summer and I release 90% of the fish i catch. I just keep a few for a nice meal once and a while.
