Anybody take their kids out for the youth day? I took my two oldest (5 and 3) out in the afternoon in our boat not expecting to catch much other than a chill. On the first drift while I was tying on hooks we hooked a nice brownie on a Rebel Minnow. After fighting the brutal wind for a couple minutes we just found a spot to anchor up and the kids starting catching fish. My 3 year old caught her first fish ever (other than one her brother helped her with last year at limestone springs). The kids kept me so busy bailing trout over the side of the boat and rebaiting hooks I never had a chance to fish. Just cast out, unhook fish, rebait, recast. It was a blast. My daughter outlasted my son, she didn't want to leave! I think this was definitely a positive experience for all 3 of us. We caught 3 tagged fish as well. I'd like to thank the Fish Commission and Cabelas for their support of this program. My kids have still been talking about their fishing trip all day today. My only criticism would be that I wish it was a warmer time of the year, but all in all a great day. I'd love to hear what everybody else has to say about their experience!

Glad to hear they had fun! I had a buddy who took his kids out to a couple different lakes, sounds like they had the same experience as you, a lot of fish and a lot of smiles.
