Belated entry from fishing Hopewell Lake on Friday the 18th. That was the warm day. My boat is not yet ready to go so I drove up after work just to wet a line from shore. It was too nice a day to miss. I fished from about 5:30 to 6:30. I brought a single ultalight spinning rig and some wax worms. I had one of my best days ever catching 30 or so big bluegills in little over an hour. I was working the area to the left of the boat ramps over where the turtle sunning boxes are located. No crappie or perch but a big bluegill on almost every cast. I released them all back to the water. It was a great way to start the new season. I hope it didn't jinx me for the rest of the season.

Sounds like you had a great fishing trip. Were there any boats out on the lake while you were there? Did you see or hear of anyone catching any bass yet while you were down there? Do you bluegill fish there often. It sounds like many people have great experiences down there panfishing. I will have to break out the UL sometime and give it a try!

There were a couple of boats in the water, plus a couple of kayaks. The floating dock was not yet in the water. One of the boats said they caught some yellow perch and a few small bass. I went back on Saturday after the front came through and didn't get a nibble.
