Hit Blue Marsh from 11am until 3:30 pm. Yes, there were water skiiers and water turds in the 52 degree water, oh, and a 30 foot cabin cruiser.
I managed just a pair of smallies, both around 14 inches. Both caught on a float'n'fly on steep drops on the main lake up near the no wake zones.
I bought the float'n'fly kit from Punisher Jigs two years ago and never tried it before yesterday. Kinda fun to fish. It takes the fun of panfishing with a bobber and the jig fishing of bass fishing and puts it together. You really don't need a longer rod like they recommend. I had a 6 foot drop between jig and bobber and had no trouble casting with a 6 1/2 foot spinning rod. Cast it out there, let it sit, jig the bobber, let it sit...repeat.....
