Went to blue marsh today with my uncle, we had a very good day we caught Five smallmouth, and i caught my first one. I caught the biggest of the day being 3.7 pounds, it was awesome, the only bad thing about it was that he ate the plastic so deep, he was going to die , so we kept him to eat. I don't like to keep the fish i catch especially the bigger ones, but when we put him back in the water, he just floated back up, he was bleeding pretty bad, but i got that to stop by pouring mountain dew down his throat to stop the bleeding we tried to revive him, but i think it was too much for him unfortunately. Here are a couple pictures of the fish we caught.

Nice fish, so what was the trick? I'm guessing you were out early before the heat?

shakey heads adn crankbaits were the ticket, we got on the water just after it got light enought to see, it was cool when we started, but i got really hot after awhile, so when we would move with the outboard it was refreshing.

Yeah, the smallmouth bite was on today ive never caught one so when my uncle started catching them i got excited. After we caught the smallmouth we went looking for the largemouth, but we couldnt find any we went up one of the no wake zones adn fliped some wood, but nothing, we fished some bridge pilings there but there was nothing i ws surprised about that because pilings usually hold fish. Do the bridge pilings on Blue Marsh usually hold fish?

I would think it depends on where at, a lot of them get quite a bit of boat traffic. Maybe real early would be the time to go!

Nice fish guys.
I've had luck reviving deep hooked fish that wanted to float by putting them in the livewell with the pump turned on manual so it runs all the time. Every five minutes or so, give the fish a push down if it's still floating. I had a fish about three weeks ago that I deep hooked and after being in the livewell for about an hour it was swimming normally again so I released it and it swam away. Hopefully it was fine.

my uncle and both thought that maybe if we put it in the livewell with teh oxygenators on high it would be fine, so we left him in there, so after we took a bathroom break checked on him adn moved him around to see if that he still wasnt moving much so we left him in there longer, so after we went up one of the no wake zones, we checked him adn he wasnt moving at all now, so we put him in the ice box so the neat wouldnt spoil.
