woke up at 3am, met up with 2 buddys, Josh and Chris at 4am. stopped at wawa for coffee and off we went. We get to Moran's bait shop in avalon around 6:30am and bought some clams and bunker for bait. We get to the pier, set up and are fishing by 7:30am. In the first hour or so 1 striper, 2 weakfish, 1 blue, 1 drum and 1 skate are landed by other fisherman on the pier, there were about 30 guys fishing when we got there. It was crazy foggy and down right cold in the morning. The fog burnt off around 11:30. They were building up the beach right by the pier dumping truck load after truck load of sand on the beach, so between all the rain in the week and all the sand, the water was really dirty. A couple locals we talked to said the fishing has been pretty bad over the last few days there. We stayed all day anyway. Chris landed 1 short striper, Josh landed 1 short striper, I landed 1 small skate, 1 tiny sand shark and 1 good sized sand shark. It didnt turn out the way we hoped, but you know a bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work!

Nice report..those Sand Sharks(Dogfish) put up a nice fight. I like to catch them off of the beach. They can get well over 3 feet long. Was the drum any size ?
