I was thinking of fishing the dam out at Strubel anyone know if there is a place to park closer than the boat launch area?
I would be taking my daughter and son, so I have extra gear to pack in.
Thanks for the help...

I use to park on the road below the dam but they have since made it impossible to pull over where i use to. I do know of people that use to park just past the gate heading west which is actually somebodies front yard with out problems but that was years ago. You might want to ask the home owner there if he would mind if you parked there. Its still a pretty far walk also.

I haven't been out there this year yet. When i was there last year the grass to the left of the boat launch was so tall you couldn't even walk down to the lake.
Anyone know if it's still that tall now or can get down to the lake to fish?

There is an access rd if you walk up Mtwn rd. then take the trail all the way to the dam. Be careful, there is a wire across the road that will really trip you up after dark. Hibernia Park maintains the grounds, if the grass gets too tall you can complain to them (don't know if they'll listen)

Not familiar with Mtwn rd. Guess that must be the road I use to park on. Also friend of mine use to maintain Struble but he had nothing to do with Hibernia. That was awhile ago maybe with cuts they have combined their efforts, County Parks Department and the Fish and Boat Commision

Morgantown Rd is the main road the parking lot is off of. Did your friend work at Springton? They used to maintain it but hibernia recently took on the task. But back to the main question. Unless you befriend a neighbor of the lake, a little walking is involved

bad advice to park on the road by the service entrance off of supplee. Its all posted and the people back there don't want anyone parking along there (they are the reason its posted and closed off!)
The only way, aside from a boat is to park in the main lot and walk around to the left side, there is a trail that runs all the way to the damn. Its a long walk, not so bad early in the year but does get pretty overgrown as the season goes on. Might be a good idea to wear some waders or at least rubber boots as there are some swampy parts.
