The first twelve issues of IN FISHERMAN Magazine, (which I have), had something different about them. Do you know what it was?

You are correct that the first issue does have a drawing of Al with a couple of walleyes. However not what I was looking for. After checking I was wrong stating something was different in the first 12 issues, it was different in only the first 6 "study reports" as they called them. After struggling to put the magazine out, and Al relinquishing his salary, they finally succumbed to doing this. What was it?

Put in advertisements. Not the answer your looking for but i do remember newer issues had a lot more advertisements in them then the older issues had.

That is the answer I was looking for! The first several issues did not have any ads at all. They then found out they could not run a magazine and make money with out them ! They only allowed about eight selected advertisers whose products they used while fishing to advertise in the mag after that.

And by far the best magazine ever put out. They had put out a excellent walleye article many years ago. If not for that I don't think I would have ever figured out the walleyes at Struble lake. After reading the article more then once. I was able to fish Struble and consistently catch limits of large walleyes. On days when there was not another boat on the lake.
