So close this week. There are a few places up my way where guys were out on the ice over the weekend. Marginal (2.5-3") ice to be sure, but if done with care by an experienced hand the neck you are risking is your own. I didn't make it myself, had to do Christmas trees and parties and the such. By Thursday, my next chance to fish, most of the ice that formed during the cold wave will be history and we (dedicated ice addicts) will all be waiting for the next big chill. Time to check the gear the fever is getting bad. FM

You wouldn't have needed a week, the weekend would have done fine. It set up during and got just thick enough for Saturday and Sunday then the weather got warm and bang gone, till the next cold wave. I hope that the next time it comes it stays a long, long time. FM

Here we go again. Round 2 in the can we get enough ice to freeze so we can get out and do some ice fishin' sweepstakes. It looks like things may get a chance to harden up and provide some secure ice to fish by the first weekend of the New Year (5,6,7th). If you want info on the NEPA area you can send me an email at fishinmusician@fishin247.comFM

Still no ice to report. Even in the coldest spots here, it skims over at night and thaws in the daytime. There are a few guys that have found some ice to fish on in the Adirondacks in NY. I will be making a road trip up there in a week or two if nothing breaks here. FM

Guys were out ice fishing in select locations this past weekend. The weekend coming up will be a big one with many NEPA lakes covered with from 4 to 6 inches of fresh ice. FM
