Has anyone been out to scout the streams or help with the stocking this year? I was over at Warwick Park near St. Pete's village on Saturday helping with the stocking as I do every year, and noticed that there were not near as many fish put in this year as there has been in the past. Normally the PFBC shows up with two trucks full and really hammers this stream. This year they came with one truck and did not put in near as many. No big deal to me, i release everything anyway, but I was wondering if this has been the norm this year or was it an isolated instance.

I usually hit Warwick myself. I hope maybe they throw some more in.

I try to help stock the stream if I'm not in school, or take the afternoon off. I plan on scouting out the streams tomorrow but the past few years they've been putting in fewer and fewer fish. They usually stock a stream a few times, all the dates are on the Fish and Boating Commission website. I'm like you, I don't keep them but let them go so it doesn't matter to me. But when there's more and more people fishing and less fish are being put in soon it just won't be worth the early morning wake up on opening day. It's suppose to rain heavy Friday and I know that it may discourage people from going out - fish will be spread out more. If the rivers high I'd rather sleep in and just go Sunday. Lol

They have stocked the streams earlier than usual this year. So don't worry if what was put in recently has not been up to your par. Trust me there are plenty of fish in the local streams, in fact this year has been an epic stocking. Yes I said epic! They have put in in large trout - in fact breeders this season. This was all because the streams north and west of have have been inundated so they are in our waters now. So everybody enjoy yourselves this weekend, and don't forget these are ours streams so please take care of them!
