Well, you've hear it before--Sometimes you eat the bear and then sometimes the bear eats you." That's what happened to us on a repeat trip to the upper Bay out of Port Deposit. Neighbor Joe and I launched at dawn and fished till dusk. Using four down riggers pulling surgical tube eels dressed with blood worms and casting our favorite Rockfish lures until our arms were sore, we came up empty. We never marked a single fish all day. A far cry from when we limited out last week on really nice fish. Evidently the school that was holding off of Port Deposit had moved up river toward the dam during a water release where food is more abundant. Another school will probably move in on another tide but it's time to winterize the boat and get out some other "toys" such as shotguns and rifles. Bought a new 20 ga. Mossburg Slugger at Gordon's and anxious to give it a try. Hope to get back to you next year and in the meantime have a Happy Holiday Season.

I'm sure you'll get them in the spring. I hear they are biting good in the lower bay. I hope to give it a try this weekend after duck hunting. I'll let you know.

Yes, from Poole's Island South there is good activity however, the cost of fuel prohibits trips that far now. When conditions are right the upper bay at the mouth of the Susquehanna is a good area for October and November when the striper's move North in search of the spring spawn shad and herring fingerling's. They hold in the pool off of Port Deposit and move up-river during water releases from the Conowingo Dam. Good luck with the duck hunting---I haven't seen as many ducks this year as normal. Will

I never ended up going out sunday. My Dad went out saturday morning and had no luck. Neighbor got 2 all day. Things are pretty slow. Big fish are late coming down the coast because of the warm fall.
