Has anyone fished the Susquehanna around Harrisburg lately? I want to take a trip up but don't fish the river very much and have only fished it a hand full of times with mixed luck. Any suggestions for smallmouth, time of year, lures, ect??

I have fished there in the past, not this year though. I have always had luck throwing crankbaits. Brown and green Rapala crawfish patterns seem to work best. I have caught fish on perch and bluegill patterns, just don't seem to be as effective as the craws. Pass over the river Monday before last and it looked pretty low, try to target the big rocks and riffles, watch your step though, there are some deep spots out there. Tight lines,

My partner lives out there and says wait till fall. The water is very low and the fishing is off.

Got one word for ya,,,,, Spinnerbaits, Spinnerbaits, Spinnerbaits. Maybe a tube once in awhile. Very very very shallow fishing. Tough fishing around city island but a pump boat would help. Go north.

I was just up in millersburg over labor day weekend. Didnt get to fish, lots of goose hunters around the area, and the river is way way down, and clear as could be. I'd have to agree on the spinnerbaits, and definately top water in the evenings. Wished I could have gotten out to give a better report of whats happening but time didnt allow.
