I went down to Long Pond this past Sunday and experienced my typical results...1 smallie and 2 sunfish...although the sunfish had to be 8+ inches long. The water was in the upper 70's and murky. If ANYONE has any advice of fishing this watyer or the dam below PLEASE let me know. I have a baot and am willing to take anyone who knows this water. email me direct at ajd@firstlightbaits.com Andy

I'm not sure where you were fishing, did you mean Long Level (Lake Clark) if so I have fished it a few times but only at night during the summer, the other times were spring and early fall. All three of the lower lakes get kind of tough during the summer (Lake Clark, Lake Aldred and Conowingo Reservoir), if you are targeting the smallmouth's I don't have much for you but if your just trying to find some fish I'd go down lake and fish a little deeper, try dropshoting a little worm or some kind of goby bait, you might also try a shaky head jig and maybe some deep diving crank baits. Doesn't seem to be a lot of Susquehanna river fishermen on the board, if you have anymore ? send me a personal message and I'll see if I can give you a little more help.

I fish below the Conowingo some. Good catfishin everywhere. Theres always a shot at a striper. Usually white perch and smallies to catch. Just use worms for the cats, tubes and rattle traps for smallies. If you fish there you need a tidal license.

Hey Thanks for the reply. Yes it was Long Level I was at on Sunday. I found some suspended fish inside channel markers where a creek comes into the lake(near the last area where there are moored boats and a marina) but could not get any takers. The grass was so murky that I am sure the fish were not seeing anything move. Then I pounded the banks down by the dam and around some fallen trees I started getting taps, but after catching one 2" sunfish, I was sure they were really small fish. they were around 12' deep. Are there any humps in that river that fish well, or is it just a matter of pounding the shoreline? Are the upper stretches of this Long Level any better ( up by the islands and the 1st Fish commission ramp)? I have never been to Lake Aldred, is it similar to Long Level in topography?

I have never fished around the islands, I've heard that it is good but you have to be very careful, lots of rocks so if you don't know your way around you could damage your boat and or your motor. Lake Aldred is a pretty good lake, I always liked fishing the tail race and the islands, plenty of smallies in that lake but again I only fished it in the spring or fall. I'd rather fish the upper bay this time of year for bass but I haven't been down yet this year, I'm stuck on Marsh Creek right now.
