Just out of curiousity, has anyone purchased something off of those "Info-mercials" that you might see on OLN or ESPN. An example would be the Banjo Minnow.
They make the product look good but when you actually use it is it crap?
I never purchased anything like that but I thought it would be interesting to see what people have to say about it.

A friend of mine bought a banjo minnow kit about 7 or 8 years ago. It wasn't junk but he could never get the same action that they show on TV. Also the little rubber bands were a pain in the butt. He caught fish with them but no more than plain old rubber worms. The only other infomercial I've seen is for Zebco's Rhino rods. I bought one for my son from K-mart 15 years ago and still have it. Don't know if the quality is the same now. He really wanted it because of the t-shirt offer. It has taken a pretty good beating over the years.

I didn't realize the Banjo Minnow has been around that long.
I still have my Zebco rod; my first rod when I started fishing about 10 or so years ago.
I saw one today about a product called the "Instant Fishermen". It's one of those rods that folds up and is said to be a "three in one" rod. Awhile ago I saw another about a crankbait that sits ontop of the water and vibrates. It's suppose to immitate a dying minnow and drive bass "crazy". I'm a skeptic when it comes to commercials like them.

I have to agree. Most of that stuff is to catch us, not the fish. For me, buying anything without first seeing and touching is next to impossible. I like to know what I'm getting.

A friend of mine has the vibrating minnow you are talking about,it was on TV and Chuck Woolery was promoting it. It does vibrate but you have to jerk it really hard to get the tail to pull away then it vibrates back, just like a kids bathtub toy. I told him it was neat but if he uses it in my boat i will throw him in the water. Really just a gimmick and also my brother has some hand carved bird lures he got as a gift they are actually supposed to catch fish but i told him they were actually to cool to risk losing as well as to expensive.

LOL, personally never bought a lure anywhere but...well you know ;D
I don't watch enough TV these days to even know what the hot new gimmick is. I have a feeling that if a pack of senkos isnt doing the trick the current 'super duper lunker catcher' isnt going to either, and if it WAS just that great, I don't think it would be in an advertisement where they actually have to 'sell' it to you!
