Fished Chambers Lake today for the first time despite living in Chester county for 8 years. Caught no bass but did catch a 36-40" Tiger Musky around 12 lbs. Never expected that, what a fish! Oh, and the fish WAS released. If I find a place to post the picture I'll post the link.

Nice fish, that is a little surprising. I was pretty sure that they were stocked in the lake but I can't recall ever hearing of any being caught. Thanks for the report.

Very nice fish. They were stocked in there but you may be the first to connect. I saw 1 or 2 cruisers last year in the back section that were definitley not pickeral and had one follow a black creek chub but no luck. What did you catch it on? I"m really glad to hear you released the fish. I was out on the water yesterday but only had a few small bass on 4" senkos and spinner baits. It's still a little early, but will get alot better.

Yeah fishing is a funny sport, isn't it Chuck? Just when you're getting pretty sour on it, something happens. Before the muskie bit, I was thinking Chambers is just another one of those lakes that looks great, is always being talked about, but is really not that hot. The fish ate a spinnerbait in 3' of water, hit it as soon as it landed.
Hey, if we have a tournament there this year, we should think twice. That lake is way too small for 15 boats, we'll all be on top of each other in whatever area the pattern occurs in. I like the idea of sectioning it off into "holes" where everyone fishes each hole for a time period, and rotates around. I'm not anxious to fish a regular format tournament there, we should do something different.

Real nice fish, on a spinnerbait no less... What is the reason for the closed off section towards the back of Chambers?

I'm not positive but I think it's a water fowl propagation area and I think they open it to fishing some time in late spring or early summer. I'm sure Ol Man River knows, hopefully he will see this the next time he's on the message board and will tell us all.

I believe it opens back up on the first day of the official bass season in June. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Superfish, I could be wrong on this too, but I don't believe they allow tournaments to be held on Chambers. If they do it is news to me.

Actually it didn't dawn on me that muskie, walleye etc season is probably not open until May, so I couldn't have kept the fish anyway. Not that I would have, it would be a crime to kill a fish like that. And I guess I could have gotten in trouble because I stuffed the fish into the livewell for a couple of minutes while I got the camera out and flagged someone down to take the picture.

Brandywine Bassmasters will be holding a tournament at Chambers on July 9th. Because the club built and installed the dock we were granted permission by the park manager. Others wishing to hold tournaments will have to contact the park manager to do so. As far as the markers in the back, this is a spawning area and may be there for that reason. I will contact park management and list their response on this site. The club is currently looking into adopting this lake and if that happens we would then be installing porcupine cribs for fish habitat as we did at Struble. Keep in mind that this is a fairly new area and not that old, there are alot of things that will happen in the future to upgrade the lake. Please obey the posted requlations and keep the area clean.

Ol Man,
The new dock looks great and was long overdue. That would be great if you guys were able to adopt Chambers, I know that the lake had a ton of trees cabled down when it was built but time has taken its toll on them.
As far as your club tournament goes besides getting the OK from the park manager did you also have to obtain a permit from the state? Are they limiting the number of boats/guys? It could get a little congested with your club (or any club for that matter) and the public. Anyway good luck and thanks to the Brandywine Bassmaster for a job well done with the dock!
