I went out on Marsh Creek for the first time in years and was shocked at how poorly it seemed to be. The clarity and the disgusting color.
I had quit fishing there because of the crowds but it seems I haven't missed anything.
I heard about the weed treatments and the spill but just curious to hear opinions.

I have fished Marsh Creek for many years. It's a sad situation there now. Not many fish but plenty of paddleboards. Perhaps, Chambers Lake is the better option.

Fished that lake for few years myself and never caught anything worth talking about and that was before the spill and weed control , although my friend got a nice 5lb Bass few weeks ago , we have seen some very large Musky swimming by but never got one . Water sports make that lake impossible to fish , forget the weekends go early or late .

Marsh creek is just a bad lake all around. It's located in a highly congested area and it's the only lake available for folks to use, that's why it's a crowded mess. I see Chambers is mentioned, trust me it's not much better. I just fished it over the weekend and there are so many paddle boards out there, people yelling and screaming across lake. I think you want a peace and quiet you need to drive north to pocono's these days.

The crowd is bad, but the water quality LOOKS bad (not sure if it is) what happened?
In the late 90s and 00s it was pretty good fishing and the water was clear with great weed beds.

Marsh is still a great fishery. Have had numerous double digit bass days this season and have hooked into 6 muskies, landing 3 as bi-catch. Color wise is actually clearer in my opinion than last year. If your weekend fishing, high pressure fronts have been on a weekend pattern. Saturdays have had the fish active. Sundays have been much more finesse. Drop shotting mid to deeper water that has some structure or depressions will get you on fish. What I did see over the weekend however was 2 snakeheads in the back bay where little conostoga was, following their frey. I've heard snakeheads have made it in, but this was the first time seeing them. Threw everything I had at them, but they were more interested in following the frey than anything else. If you catch them, please keep them. There are a ton of recipes out now for them too.

They say a easy way to catch snakeheads following their fry is to throw a top water lure in the middle of the fry. They say they are very protective and will hit a lure defending their fry

haven't seen clear water or weed beds at marsh in well over 10 years...science experiment in ranger cove ongoing...fishing pressure is way down from years gone by so you could probably catch a few...give it about 5 years and convert to snake heading that's about only chance this lake has of recovery

after the draw down they put a big effort into controlling the weeds (for the paddles and yakkers) not realizing how much that damaged the fishery - and still doing it. that's the main reason the clarity has been off the past many years - no weeds = no oxygen, etc, etc. they really have to do something about reducing the crowds (instead of enlarging the parking lots) or this lake is just going to keep going downhill. it's a delicate ecosystem (as are most) and it won't take much to kill it off.
for what it's worth, as the clarity has gone down, i've had more success with downsizing my tackle and throwing anything with a small spinner and using a lot of chartreuse or white plastic minnows (2"-3"). catching lots of perch and the occasional 2 pounder - crazy fight on light tackle.
anyone have an update on the dredging? still going on?

There is an article on the dredging and Sunoco's lack of clean up on the front page of today's DLN.
