Hi everyone, i was on Marsh Creek yesterday and i noticed that there were a ton of schooling fish surfacing all over the place. I wasnt able to really see them or catch them. Do you guys know what they were? I was thinking they could be crappie but i wasnt sure. whats odd was i didnt see anyone trying to fish for them either.

I bet it wasn't the musky fingerlings. Good try though. Likely crappie or other small baitfish.

They are most likely small bluegills, usually around 3 to 4 inches long. Probably eating bugs of some kind. I've seen a lot of this usually around this time of year. You'll also see crappies do the same. Highly doubt it's musky fingerlings or even shad. There are smaller shiners in the lake and bigger golden shiners, but I don't think any shad or alewives at all.
