OUCH! Worst day of the season on the lake so far. My Dad and I hit the lake at about 6:30 AM; what a beautiful morning (weather-wise) on the water. We fished until 2:00 PM and we had one Bass around 10" to show for the day. We fished shallow; we fished deep; we fished in between and nada. We fished down towards the main lake; we fished all the way at the top of the lake and even went up the creek just a bit and nada. My only small bass came as we headed back out of the creek at the North Heidleberg Bridge where the creeks come into the lake. We also fished numerous normally high percentage areas in between with -0- success. We tried numerous baits and techniques and it just wasn't happening. We certainly put forth some serious effort to put fish in the boat but the Bass weren't having any of it. I enjoyed the boat ride and conversation and bonding with my Dad but I sure wish I could have put him on some fish. Overall I have managed to do fairly well on the lake over the past two seasons; but Saturday was destined to be a poor day of fishing. But most folks will have bad days like that on BM and consider the lake the "Dead Sea"; I on the other cannot wait to get back on that lake to try to rectify the past weekends disappointments. Yes; the weather was warm and honestly with all the leaves and algae and scum on the lake it sure doesn't look pretty right now; but I KNOW those Bass are in there. They beat me this past weekend; that's for sure......but I'll be back! Water was calm and around 72 degrees and as stated earlier; it was green; covered in leaves and scum and just not pretty. I'm just waiting for cooler temps and the water to start cooling into the 60's; then the lake will turn on big time.

Sounds like a long day but at least you had some good company and nice weather. I don't think i've ever seen the water look very nice at blue marsh. The bite should definitely turn on once we get a little cooler weather and it looks it's supposed to start cooling off this weekend. Good luck next time!

I was there with my 7 year old sun and had a blast he whooped my but. It wasn’t the best day I’ve had out there but fishing has been tough at nockamixon where I normally go. So I decided to drive the two hours and it was worth it. My son hooked a 2lb smallmouth at the first spot. It gave a good fight for him. But as 7 year olds do he reeled it all the way up and lost it. Then going to the second spot he hooked another smallmouth this time it was twice the size. This time we got him in. So awesome. He was so happy! Then soon after we got our lines back in we both hooked up again with smaller 1lbers. It was fun. I caught several small largemouth in my normal spots throughout the morning. Good day.

Lund1029; I'm glad to read about you and your Son's success on the lake......that is AWESOME. Were you fishing the main lake or in the no-wake area? All of my high percentage area didn't produce.

I was fishing everywhere. Lol. Spot to spot. One spot in the no wake produced the first smallie. Then the really big arm at the no wake line. I caught a few everywhere. Marked a few brush piles and picked up a few. I just got a helix 7si and man I like it. I mark everything now. It never hurts. I go spot to spot in prime feeding time morning and evenings. Then when it slows I go around and explore. Been paying off.
