Hi Guys, I've been down in the Exton area for about 4 years now. I moved here from Philadelphia. I have fished Struble, Chambers, Marsh, Hibernia., and Octoraro. I haven't been out on the rivers yet though. Any advise where to go? I have a boat...17 foot mod v. With a 60hp....I Keep reading the rivers are really shallow so I am hoping to get some help.... Thanks!

I don't know about the other rivers but bass fishing on Conowingo Reservoir on the lower Susquehanna River has been pretty good this summer.

I fished the Susquehanna (lake Aldred) pool this week only got 2 smallmouth and a catfish (cats and walleyes hit bass baits up there). They only bit for about an hour or so at first light, I think the bass feed at night quite a bit in there, they spit up crawfish. I put in at Pequea ramp you can also put in at York Furnace ramps on the other side. I run up to the rocks below Safe Harbor dam. Heading upstream there is a nice deep channel on the right side of the river almost up to the dam. On the left side you can run up past the island and there is a channel close to the left shoreline but I would run slow once you pass the island. Put up your outboard and use you trolling motor to work through the rocks. Be careful lots of times the water is stained and you can't see the rocks until you are almost on them. Never fished Conowingo pool but image it's similar, bass up in the rocks. Anyone have any tips on navigating Conowingo?
I've fished the upper bay rivers a few times but have not figured them out very well caught a few largemouth but never had a great day. Had some good days on stripers on the flats in the springtime. They are shallow rivers but have deep channels for running the boat. Hope to learn them better in future lots of pretty water to fish.
Good luck let us know how you do.

We hit Conowingo 2 times this summer and last week we went to the area around 3 Mile Island... and netted 34 bass with a handful near 3 pounds. we usually hit around 20==25 bass in the lower sections fishing 1/2 day. I am not real familiar with the flow so we always go slow... at 3 Mile Island it was a really shallow pool.. really shallow with rocks the size of VW buses just below the surface. The Wingo was navigable with an outboard but be real careful... the open water is deceivingly shallow in spots and drops off to 100 feet in others. There is a Susquehanna FB page which I monitor and asked questions about flow and basically got no answers.. The Long Pond pool below York is deeper with less rocks and good for LM along the west shore down to the dam. each trip out we seem to learn a little more about the river. I fished the Flats many times but these upper pools are more intimating because of the flow & the hidden rocks.

Head over to Goldsboro on the York side. Launch at the Goldsboro public ramp and just drop your trolling motor and sit out about 40 to 50 yards off shore and drift down with the slow current. Great smallie fishing. Keep an eye on other boats. You will see that they put it up on plane about half way out. You can also cruse down to the York Haven Dam. Lots of ridge's to fish.
