Any word on Blue Marsh recently? I am hoping to get out there on Saturday in my Buddy's Bass Boat and just wondering if anyone is catching anything in there. I know a good day equates to 4 or 5 Bass' so is anyone doing that right now? I have only fished Blue Marsh a handful of times; so any advise on a good spot(s) to catch a limit of Bass would be appreciated. The bite has been good on the smaller lakes around; but I am looking forward to a little "big water" fishing this weekend.

Don't know never fished it but would like to check it out. Does anyone have the address for the State Hill Boat Ramps? Also are the ramps open certain hours or all day? And is there a fee to launch - if so drop box or office? Thanks.....

Can't help on an address, but the launches are open for boating 24/7. There is a fee with a drop box. I think it's $3.00.

The 2 lower launches are operated by the Corps and there is a $3.00 fee... the upper ramp is run by the Fish Commission and free. Think Marsh Creek on bad days and that is Blue Marsh.. the fish are relating to very isolated structure or suspending in open water & chasing after the alewives. So this time of year spots become very specific and most times you need a good sonar it to even see the structure. Last time out i had 2 keepers (15" ), a catfish & 1 striper ( around 9 pounds) plus 4 undersized bass. Mix of dark softballs & deep diving crank baits. I am headed out Friday night but that is not going to help you Saturday am. Best advice is to fish SLOW.. and generally deeper... If I see a guy pounding the bank I can often pull out fish right behind him because I will fish below where he had his boat...12-20 feet. All you get by fishing shallow are sunfish.

UPDATE; Went out Friday night, dozens of boats on the water until 10:00 and then it thinned down considerably. The Fish Commissions guys were out in force which was nice to see them checking around in the evening. very pleasant experience with them but make sure you have all necessary gear & licenses displayed. So the report... we caught 5 keeper (over15") smallmouth the largest was close to 4 pounds, most were 3+pounds. No stripers, one walleye. All were up past the no wake area.

Not a very good day at all on Blue Marsh on Sunday; but I did manage one nice smallie. Not sure why this smallie was sitting in about 2 feet of water along the shoreline at 11:00 in the morning;but it was; I must say though that it put up one heck of a fight on a ML spinning combo. This lake is certainly my nemesis; my best trip to date there has only yielded two bass. But a day on the water anytime is a good day regardless of "the catch". We fished from 5:30 AM until 12:30 PM. My buddy caught 3 LM; one was of decent size and the other 2 were dinks. I also had a decent LM throw my soft plastic; but that's fishing......
