All the noise and cracking on the ice is considered growing pains, like Panfishin said it's expanding and getting thicker. No need to worry. We have all been thru the jitters the first time out hearing all that noise. Get yourself a pair of ice spikes just to be safe and confident. Hey panfishin, good to hear you got on them yesterday, wish I could of stayed longer, anyone else show up?

I was out there yesterday from about 7:30 until 5 with an hour break around noon. When the sun came out for a short time in the late morning and it started to get warm the ice was cracking and popping like crazy but you just have to put your worries aside like panfishin said. I caught tons of small perch and gills with a few nice crappies and was even surprised to pull out about an 8 inch golden shiner. I just couldn't get away from the gills all day though. Best fishing was in the 8 to 9 ft range for me. It looked like a small city to the right side of the boat launch. Lots of people over there

Yes but I talked to a fellow who there at the right of the boat launch and he told me that they didn't do very well. One guy had 4 gills and another had 4 gills and a couple of crappies. I was out about 100 yards out from them and I was catching a few fish. Mostly small gills and perch but managed to take home 10, mix of a crappie and the rest, gills. Lost the biggest keeper at the hole, a very large perch. Seems like when 10am hits for though for me, they stop biting. Get more sniffers then bites at that point. I also lso managed about an 8# shiner and another surprise, a 22# carp! Took some pics of that, measured him, threw him back, and headed home. I want to try in the am tomorrow but I'll wait to see how this rain does.

Nice, good job on the carp. About time you hear of one getting pulled through a hole since there seems to be so many there splashing around in the summer. I stayed away from the crowd and fished the left side of the launch maybe a few hundred yards out. It was nice until a group of guys posted up right next to me and commenced to start their gas powered auger and drilled about 20 holes making swiss cheese out of the area.

Yeah I heard those guys digging the holes. I initially thought that one of the homeowners on the hill had a large tree that he was cutting up. At least we didn't have to put up with the ice boaters.

Got out Saturday afternoon from about 12:30 to 5:30. Stayed in one spot and had pretty good action all afternoon. I was in 9ft-10ft of water. Took home 5 decent gills and 4 crappie. Minnows and swedish pimple tipped with one waxie did the damage. Lost one real nice perch at the hole. Couldn't get some of the nice marks on the flasher to commit though.
I heard from a friend that his buddy was out on the ice all day yesterday and the ice held up. Haven't seen it with my own eyes though. Hoping things tighten up at night cause I'm looking to get out again this weekend!!

Ice was fine this morning although it's getting slushy. Almost the same with me today as the past three times at Struble, bought home 12 keepers, a mixture of gills, perch, and three crappies. Sweedish pimple tipped with waxies and a jigging Rapala seemed to work for me. Ran into lots of crappies but they were small, had a ball with them nonetheless. I think a bare hook would have caught them! A few of the guys told me that they weren't catching anything and that they were going to try Marsh Creek, although I watched a couple of guys get a half dozen or so what looked to be gills.

I'm heading back today, the temperature got below freezing last night so I'm sure the ice is still good.
